A fun game for long-distance couples is Escape Simulator. This is an escape room-like puzzle game where you must work together to get out in time. My partner and I really enjoyed playing this game. The difficulty level is medium and we only had to restart a level a few times.
To succeed as a team you must share every detail and clue you find.

What is Escape Simulator

This is the ideal game for long-distance couples who are looking for a challenge. Escape Simulator takes you into the world of escape rooms, where your objective is to solve fun puzzles, uncover hidden secrets, and break out of the escape rooms. With over 28 hand-crafted rooms inspired by real-life escape room operators, each puzzle is crafted to test your patience, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

The game’s story isn’t linear, which allows you to explore various themed environments, from ancient Egyptian tombs to high-tech futuristic labs. The levels are rich with interactivity; you can move furniture, examine objects, and even break items to reveal clues. It’s the perfect way to experience the thrill of an escape room without leaving your home.

Escape Simulator Gameplay

I can confidently say that Escape Simulator stands out for its interactive environments and challenging puzzles. Every object in the game is designed to feel purposeful, meaning even the smallest detail can lead to a major breakthrough. You might find yourself flipping over books, shaking boxes, or puzzling together ripped papers to solve mysteries.

The co-op mode elevates the experience further. Working with your partner or a friend to brainstorm solutions. Which adds a layer of collaboration that makes solving puzzles incredibly rewarding. Unlike traditional multiplayer games, Escape Simulator requires constant communication and teamwork to progress.

Once my partner had an item in her inventory, but she forgot about it. That item was the only clue we needed to complete the level. We were stuck until the last minute, but then we noticed it and managed to finish just in time. This was just one of the many funny moments we had.

One feature my partner and I loved is the interactive environment. You can move books, open drawers, and even break objects to find hidden clues. This level of interaction makes each room feel alive and adds a layer of realism that’s rare in games.

Challenges and Rewards of Escape Simulator

One of the best parts of this game is how good it feels to solve puzzles together. Some challenges are straightforward, while others will leave you scratching your head or Googling for hints, no judgment here! 😉

The rooms are timed, so there’s always that added pressure to escape before the clock runs out. But don’t worry, you are always able to restart or take your time if needed. For us, the most rewarding part was that “Aha!” moment when we finally figured out a particularly tricky puzzle. It’s a great way to bond and laugh over your missteps and victories.

Custom Rooms and Endless Fun

Another reason to love Escape Simulator is the community-built rooms. Beyond the base game, players can create and share their own escape rooms. This means there’s almost endless content to explore. Some community-made rooms are as creative and challenging as the official ones, if not more.

This feature keeps the game fresh and exciting. You can find whatever theme you want through these endless libraries of rooms.

Why Escape Simulator is Great for Long-Distance Couples or Friends

Escape Simulator is a fantastic choice for long-distance couples or friends. The game is multiplayer, so you can play together online no matter where you are. Communication is key, so it’s a fun way to strengthen your connection while solving puzzles as a team.

For couples like us, this game isn’t just about escaping rooms, it’s about escaping the daily routine and doing something fun and different together. It’s a great mix of challenge, fun, and teamwork.

Tips and Tricks for Success

Escape simulator 2To make the most out of your Escape Simulator experience, here are a few tips my partner and I found useful:

  1. Communicate Everything
Seriously, no clue is too small to mention. Even if it seems irrelevant, share it with your partner. Once, I almost overlooked a scribble on a note, but it turned out to be the key to the next puzzle!

  2. Divide and Conquer
Start by scanning the room individually. My partner and I usually split up to cover more ground, and then regroup to share what we’ve found. This way, you won’t miss anything crucial.

  3. Keep Your Inventory in Mind
Don’t forget to check your inventory! This might sound obvious, but it’s easy to overlook items once they’re stashed away. Trust me, you don’t want to be stuck for 10 minutes just because you forgot about that screwdriver.

  4. Interact with Everything
If it’s clickable, draggable, or breakable, give it a try. Open drawers, flip books, shake boxes, and leave no stone unturned. Escape Simulator rewards curiosity, so don’t hold back.

  5. Stay Organized
Keep track of what you’ve already solved. We found it helpful to pile “used” items in a corner so we didn’t keep checking them. It’s a small trick, but it saves time when you’re racing against the clock.
  6. Work Under Pressure (Or Don’t)
The timer adds excitement, but don’t let it stress you out. If you’re stuck, take a breath, restart the room, or explore without worrying about the time. Sometimes stepping back helps you see the solution.
  7. Use Hints (No Judgment)
If you’re completely stumped, don’t hesitate to use a hint or even Google for help. My partner and I had to look up a solution once, and honestly, it didn’t ruin the fun it kept the game moving.

  8. Laugh at Your Mistakes
Lastly, don’t take it too seriously! Some of our favorite moments came from hilarious missteps, like when I spent five minutes trying to decode what turned out to be purely decorative symbols.

By following these tips, you’ll not only escape the rooms faster but also have more fun along the way. Good luck, and remember: teamwork makes the dream work!

What Platforms can you play Escape Simulator on

Escape Simulator is available on PC through platforms like Steam. While it doesn’t yet support consoles, it’s accessible to most gamers with a decent computer. If you’re worried about technical requirements, no worries! The game isn’t demanding, and most modern laptops can run it smoothly.

I have great news for the people with a VR headset! This game is also available in VR. Make the escape room experience even more realistic by being in the room. VR allows you to hold the objects in your hands. You can turn and interact with them. At the moment Escape Simulator is available for the Oculus Quest.

Our rating

We give Escape Simulator 4.5 stars!

My partner thinks the game is very good for couples who want to bond. The graphics are nice, and the levels are fun.

I think that Escape Simulator is a great game for people who want to level up their communication. The puzzles are complex but also not too complex. There is a very nice balance between those.

Why 4.5 and not 5? The rooms get completed quite quickly sometimes. Also, the graphics could be a bit better, this is a personal preference of course. These are just minor personal issues/ preferences.

I still strongly recommend this game to couples or friends.
